Coaches Corner

Kerri Vanderbom

Kerri started as a camper in 1989 and fell in love with water skiing.  She's traveled the globe competing in water skiing, being a former world record holder and champion and featured in a Gatorade G2 Ad.  Kerri comes back as a coach every year from Oregon.

Derek Vanderbom

Derek hails from Victoria, Australia and is a former world champion water skiier.  He won the bronze for jump in the 2005 worlds and comes to coach Ability First each year from Oregon.

Matt Oberholtz

Matt is a former world champion and world record holder in water skiing.  He is still the only person to land a flip during a competition and is the current coach for the US Disabled Water Ski team that won first place overall in the 2011 Disabled World Water Ski Championships.

Jessie Radmilovic

Jessie set the world on fire at the 2011 Disabled World Water Ski Championships where she took home 5 medals (1 gold, 4 silver) and set a new woman's MP2 world record in slalom at 4.00/37 and tied the women's trick record.  She also played on the Arizona State Basketball team and comes to coach at Ability First each year from Sacramento, CA.

Christiaan Bailey

Christiaan "Otter" Bailey travels the world as a professional disabled surfer and chair skater.  He also helped co-found and run the Shaka Surf Camp in Costa Rica.  When he's not traveling the world he calls Santa Cruz home.
